The future of golf depends upon the youth of today.  With a strong commitment to further promoting golf in Collier, Charlotte and Lee counties, WCI Communities, Inc. and Mercedes-Benz of Ft. Myers have teamed-up to create the WCI/Mercedes-Benz of Ft. Myers Jr. Golf Foundation. Both WCI and Mercedes-Benz of Ft. Myers believe in supporting excellence in the sport and the classroom beyond the high school years.

The Awards
Each spring, the Foundation awards college scholarships to graduating high school WCI Jr. Golf players who exhibit skill, talent and dedication both on and off the links.  The Athletic & Academic Achievement Scholarship must be used for education-related expenses. Upon receipt of scholarship and acceptance to post-secondary institution, recipient monies will be sent directly to school. 

Eligibility
Eligibility requirements are as follows:

• Must be a current resident of Collier, Charlotte or Lee County, Florida
• Must be a graduating high school senior
• Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 system, or its equivalent
• A sealed academic transcript is required
• Must have been a member of the WCI/Mercedes-Benz of Ft. Myers Jr. Golf Foundation (or similar tour* in the preceding year)
• Must be a current member of the WCI/Mercedes-Benz Jr. Golf Foundation
• Must provide copy of official documentation of SAT and/or ACT test scores

Additional considerations include:

• School Involvement & Scholastic Accomplishments
• Community Service
• Golf or Golf Tournament Achievements
• Financial Need

*If new to Lee, Charlotte or Collier county and have not previously been a member of the WCI/Mercedes-Benz of Ft. Myers Jr. Golf Foundation, applicant must be able to provide documentation that they have participated in a similar junior golf tour in the preceding year to the scholarship application.

Applications and required attachments must be received by Monday, April 5, 2010.

Scholarship Application Checklist
All items on the following checklist are required to be completed and included before application will be reviewed:

• Completed Scholarship Application Form 
• Completed 2010 Membership Contract (include the $10 membership fee)
• Sealed school transcript through current semester
• Copy of official SAT and/or ACT test scores
• Completed Essay
• Financial need statement (if applicable)
